Fishing

Charlotte Harbor and Gasparilla Sound include 750,000 acres of estuary meaning paradise for the keen fisherman.  The waters are bursting with fish including Flounder, Pompano, Snook, Grouper, Redfish, Mangrove Snapper, Spotted Trout, Sheepshead, Bluefish, Kingfish, Mackerel and in the Spring and Summer the mighty Tarpon.  Lobsters, Bay Scallops, Oysters, Crab and other shellfish are also in abundance.

You can fish from many locations including, piers, seawalls and boats.  There are lots of opportunities to fish in the local area, alternatively fishing charters are available from Fishermen's Village where you can go deep sea fishing out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Here are a few of the local spots where you can watch the sun shimmering on the water and fish in breathtaking surroundings, Peace River, Alligator Creek, Shell Creek, Punta Gorda Pier, Ponce De Leon Park, Charlotte Harbor, Boca Grande, Gasparilla Island and Cayo Costa Island.

 

Sports and Tennis Centres

There are many sport and tennis centres in the local area, here are 3 of the nearest to the villa:

Tringali Recreation Complex (941-473-1018) is located on McCall Road.  The centre also provides facilities for basketball and in-line skating.

Englewood Recreation Center (941-474-8919) is located on Organe Street, in addition to tennis you can also play basketball, shuffleboard, volley ball and softball.

Englewood Tennis Club (941-475-3386) is located on Englewood Road, providing excellent tennis facilities.
